TEKON (earlier known as TECHFEST) is an annual Event of KSCSTE for promoting the technological innovations from the Engineering students of Kerala. TEKON houses contest for innovative engineering products developed by the students of engineering colleges within the state of Kerala. TECHFEST is an opportunity for all the talented Engineering students to present and exhibit their inventions and innovations and hence to showcase their talent with a competitive spirit. The event also provides a platform for the students to discuss and interact with senior technocrats in the country on various issues related to development of innovative ideas and concepts. TEKON over the years have instilled a positive competitive spirit among the engineering students, encouraging them to strive harder and come up with more innovative products.
In 2016 a new scheme titled ‘INNOVATE’ was launched in connection with TEKON. INNOVATE is envisaged to support innovative projects by providing maximum financial assistance to the tune of Rs.25,000/- for prototype development/ fabrication. The products developed under INNOVATE scheme has to be necessarily exhibited in TEKON.
The first two editions of the event, TECHFEST-2013 and TECHFEST-2014 was jointly organized by KSCSTE and the Directorate of Technical Education, Govt. of Kerala. TECHFEST-2013 was hosted by Rajiv Gandhi Institute of Technology, Pampady, Kottayam and TECHFEST-2014 was hosted by Govt. Engineering College, Wayanad. The third, fourth and fifth editions of TECHFEST in the years 2016,2017 and 2018 was jointly organized with A P J Abdul Kalam Technological University. TECHFEST of KSCSTE -2016 was hosted by Amal Jyothi College of Engineering, Kanjirapally, Kottayam. Mar Athanasius College of Engineering, Kothamangalam hosted TECHFEST of KSCSTE 2017 and KSCSTE TEKON-2018 was hosted by Sahrdaya College of Engineering, Kodakara, Thrissur.
