Patent Information Centre – Kerala (PIC-Kerala)

Patent Information Centre (PIC – Kerala) was established in KSCSTE in May, 2003. PIC-Kerala has been functioning as a satellite centre of Patent Facilitating Centre/ TIFAC, Dept. of Science & Technology, Government of India. The major objective of PIC-Kerala is to create awareness about Intellectual Property Rights among the people in the State from different walks of life through awareness Seminars/ Workshops/ Lectures/ Talks/ Exhibitions and Publications. The Centre also facilitates the filing of patent applications from the State by conducting prior art patent database search free of cost. The centre aims to increase the intellectual property output of the State through awareness generation.

TECHNICAL AND FINANCIAL ASSISTANCE FOR IPR SEMINARS /WORKSHOPS

Patent Information Centre – Kerala provides technical and financial assistance to the Government Organizations/ Departments/ Universities / R&D Institutions / Government, Aided or Private Educational Institutions (Colleges/Schools) and well established Non Governmental Organizations/ Professional Bodies, for organizing awareness Seminars/ Workshops on Intellectual Property Rights (IPR). The objective of such programmes are to create awareness on the various aspects of IPR especially Patents, Copyrights, Trademarks, Designs, Geographical Indications, Indian Patent System, Patent searching and filing procedures, etc., among Scientists, Researchers, Students, Faculty, Industrialists, Entrepreneurs, Grass root Innovators and General Public. The maximum financial assistance which will be provided to the Organizations/ Institutions for organizing IPR awareness programmes are as follows;

TECHNICAL SUPPORT FOR FILING PATENTS

Patent Information Centre – Kerala provides technical support for the filing of patent applications by conducting prior art patent database search free of cost. Prior art patent database search is conducted to determine whether the invention is patentable or not. The patentable inventions from Government Organizations/ Departments/ Universities / R&D Institutions and Government/ Aided/Private Educational Institutions will be forwarded to Patent Facilitating Centre/ TIFAC, Department of Science & Technology, Govt. of India, for further patent filing procedures.
