Patent Information Centre (PIC):
KSCSTE has established Patent Information Centre
(PIC), Kerala, functioning as a satellite centre for Patent
Facilitating Centre of TIFAC, Government of India. The major
objectives of the centre are to organize technical programmes
to generate awareness among public on Intellectual Property
Rights (IPR) and thus nurturing students research scholars,
scientist, technocrats, professionals, industrialists, grass
root innovators, etc. It aims to increase the IP output of
the State by facilitating and guiding people from different
walks of life. Moreover, PIC offers technical, legal and financial
assistance to institutions for filing patent and facilitates
to access patent related documents.
PARTIAL FINANCIAL SUPPORT FOR IPR RELATED SEMINARS WORKSHOPS ETC
Patent Information Centre – Kerala, provides
partial funding to Government organizations/ Departments/
Universities / R&D Institutions / Government or Government
Aided institutions (Colleges/Schools etc.) for organizing
Awareness workshops, seminars and exhibitions etc related
to Intellectual Property Rights (IPRs). The objectives of
such programme is to generate awareness on IPR which include
the importance of filing of patents, registration of Trademarks,
Copyrights, Geographical Indications etc and the procedures
involved.

TECHNICAL SUPPORT FOR FILING PATENTS
Patent Information Centre (PIC) – Kerala, will provide technical support by way of searching the patent databases, prior-art search etc for filing patents free of cost for inventions from the selected category mentioned below. The inventors from Government organizations/ Departments/ Universities / R&D Institutions / Government or Government Aided Colleges / Schools etc. can apply provided the invention is novel and non obvious having some utility/industrial applications. The applications for patent filing submitted to PIC will be forwarded to Patent Facilitation Centre, TIFAC, Department of Science & Technology, Govt. of India, for further patent filing procedures.
