The Kerala School of Mathematics (KSM) is a new R&D institution established as a joint venture of Kerala State Council for Science, Technology and Environment (KSCSTE) & Department of Atomic Energy (DAE) at Kunnamangalam, Kozhikode, with the objective of promoting quality education and research in mathematical sciences in the country and in particular in Kerala. The school aims at adopting and adapting the best practices followed in prestigious international institutions in the field of Mathematics. The School will also initiate and organize academic and research activities based on the models of International centres for Theoretical Physics and Mathematics.
In order to keep the KSOM in the forefront of expertise and innovations in Mathematics and related studies, we are looking for dynamic, result oriented top-notch Scientists with relevant academic/research/management experience to be appointed in the following positions.
1. Director , No. of post: 1
The Director is the Chief Executive of the Centre and is responsible for the management, administration and development of the perspective plan for the institution by providing effective leadership. He is expected to lead the institution to international standards and should be an able manager to co-ordinate interdisciplinary/interdepartmental programmes relating to mathematical sciences at national & international levels. The tenure will be for a period of five years or superannuation whichever is earlier.
Qualifications : Ph.D in Mathematics
Experience : Minimum 15 years in a research/academic/R&D institution of which 10 years should be at a senior level, of which 5 years shall be in the cadre of Scientist-F/Professor or equivalent (Rs.16400-20000/-) or shall be presently holding the post of Scientist-G (Rs. 18400-22400/-). Scientists/Academicians with minimum of 7 years experience at the level of E2/equivalent (Rs.14300/-) also may be considered. Comparable positions/grade in similar institutions will also be considered. Experience as the Head of an R&D institution will be an added advantage. Experience should be reflected in scientific publications in indexed journals, patents, books etc. candidate with experience of R&D administration will be preferred.

Scale of Pay : Rs.18,400 – 22,400/- (CSIR) + other perks eligible for Director of R&D institutions under the KSCSTE
2. Professor , No. of post: 1
Qualification:
1. Ph.D in Mathematics
2. At least 10 years of research/teaching experience out of
which 5 years will be in the grade of Associate Professor
or equivalent post.
Age: below 50 years as on 01.07.’08.
Scale of Pay: Rs.16,400 – 22,400/- (CSIR)
3. Associate Professor , No. of post: 1
Qualification:
1. Ph.D in Mathematics
2. At least 10 years of research/teaching experience out of
which 5 years will be in the grade of Scientific Officer/Senior
Lecturer/ Scientist – C or equivalent post.
Age: below 45 years as on 01.07.’08.

4. Lecturers / Assistant Professor, No. of post: 2
Qualification:
1. Ph.D in Mathematics
2. Minimum 1 year teaching / research experience in the grade
of Lecturer or Scientist B or equivalent post.

Qualification:
1. Graduate of a recognized University.
2. 10 years Administrative experience under State or Central
Government or in a Central or State R&D Institution.
3. Experience in Accounts & Audit is preferred.

MEMBER SECRETARY
The Kerala State Council for Science, Technology and Environment (KSCSTE) is an autonomous body under the Government of Kerala constituted to promote excellence in Science & Technology in the State through learning research and development with the involvement of academia, industry and Research Organisations. The Council is committed to the improvement of the infrastructure, livelihood, amenities and environment of the society at large through the application of Science & Technology thereby realizing sustainable development and better quality of life. The Council manages a number of R&D Institutions in the State, joint venture projects with R&D /academic institutions and operates over 20 major research programms and projects from the Headquarters. The Council is also in the process of establishing more R&D Institutions in the State in frontier areas of Science and Technology.
In order to keep the Council & its R&D Institutions in the forefront of their respective expertise and innovations we are looking for dynamic, result oriented top-notch Scientists with relevant academic/management experience to be appointed as its Member Secretary, Director-NATPAC & Director-TBGRI.
1. Member Secretary, KSCSTE Headquarters, Sasthra Bhavan, Pattom, Thiruvananthapuram.
Member Secretary of the Council is responsible for implementing the decisions of the Executive Committee/State Council, and efficient and faithful implementations of the decisions of the policy making organs. He will also be holding additional responsibilities assigned by Executive Vice President of KSCSTE from time to time. The tenure of appointment will be for a period of 3 years or till superannuation as per rules, whichever is earlier.
Qualification : Master’s Degree or Ph.D. in any branch of Engineering /Technology or Ph.D. in any branch of Science from reputed Institution.
Age : Below 55 years as on 01.07.2008
Scale of Pay : 18, 400-500-22,400 plus perks and allowances as per norms.
Experience : 15 years in research/academic/R&D organization/industry out of which 10 years should be at a senior level including 7 years in the grade of Scientist F (Rs.16,400 – 20,000/-) or equivalent or shall be presently holding the grade of Scientist G (Rs.18,400-22,400/-) or equivalent. Equivalent positions/grades in academic institutions/industry will also be considered.
Desirable : Experience in Science & Technology Management and Administration.

2. Director -National Transportation Planning and Research Centre (NATPAC), Sasthra Bhavan, Pattom Palace P. O., Thiruvananthapuram – 695 004.
National Transportation Planning and Research Centre (NATPAC) is an R&D Centre established to undertake research and consultancy works in the fields of traffic engineering and transportation planning, highway engineering, public transport system, inland water transport, tourism planning, rural roads, environmental impact assessment and transport energy. The Centre is located at Pattom, Thiruvananthapuram and a new campus is also coming up near the picturesque Akkulam lake.

He is expected to lead the institution to international standards and should be an able Manager to co-ordinate interdisciplinary/interdepartmental programmes relating to Transportation planning at regional and national levels. Qualification : First Class Master’s Degree in Engineering or Technology, preferably Ph. D in Engineering in any branch of Transportation Engineering or allied fields from reputed institutions.
Experience : Minimum of 15 years in a research/academic/R&D institution of which 10 years should be at a senior level, of which 5 years shall be in the cadre of Scientist F (Rs.16400-20000/-) or shall be presently holding the post of Scientist G (Rs.18400-22400/-). Botanic Garden and Research Institute (TBGRI), Palode, Thiruvananthapuram

Tropical Botanic Garden and Research Institute located in the foothills of Western Ghats at Palode, 45 kms from Thiruvananthapuram, established with the vision of conserving and sustainably utilizing the plant biodiversity of India, with special reference to Kerala. The institute undertakes a number of research projects in the fields of biotechnology, biodiversity, floriculture and related areas.
The Director is the Chief Executive of the Centre and is responsible for the management, administration and development of the perspective plan for the institution by providing effective leadership. He is expected to lead the institution to international standards and should be an able Manager to co-ordinate interdisciplinary/interdepartmental programmes related to the mandate of the Institute at regional and national levels. The tenure will be for a period of five years or superannuation whichever is earlier.
Qualification: Ph. D in Plant Sciences
Experience : Minimum of 15 years in a research/academic/R&D institution of which 10 years should be at a senior level, of which 5 years shall be in the cadre of Scientist F (Rs.16400-20000/-) or shall be presently holding the post of Scientist G (Rs.18400-22400/-). Scientists with minimim of 7 years experience at the level of E2/equivalent (Rs.14300-18300/-) also may be considered. Comparable positions grade in similar institutions will also be considered. Experience should be related to the mandate of the Institute. Research experience should be reflected in scientific publications in indexed journals, patents, books etc. Candidates with experience of R&D administration will be preferred.
