National Webinar on Catalysis: Concepts, Developments and Applications Organised by KSCSTE-SRIBS & M.G. University during 14-16 January 2022
Catalysis is the process by which the rate of a reaction is increased by the addition of a small amount of substance called catalyst, which itself is not used up in the reaction and can continue to act repetitively. A catalyst essentially lowers the activation energy of a reaction. Catalysis has found immense applications and is mainly categorized as homogeneous, heterogeneous and enzyme catalysis. This colloquium covers various aspects of catalysis such as the history, developments, various theories and mechanism of homogeneous, heterogeneous and enzyme catalysis, applications of catalysis in industry especially in pharmaceuticals and energy process with an emphasis on the curriculum of postgraduate chemistry. Green chemistry in catalysis and frontier research trends in catalysis will also be discussed.
