National Mathematics Day Celebrations on “Mathematics, Art & Creativity”
The Kerala State Council for Science, Technology & Environment (KSCSTE), in association with the Departments of Data Science and Department of Fintech & AI at Loyola College of Social Sciences, celebrated National Mathematics Day 2025. The event was inaugurated by Dr. Sunil Thomas T., Director of ICFOSS , and presided over by Prof. A. Sabu, Member Secretary of KSCSTE. Dr. Sabu P. Thomas, SJ, Principal of Loyola College, welcomed the gathering , which included a diverse group of school and college students, faculty, and participants from various departments. Key felicitations were offered by Prof. Saji P Jacob and Prof. Gabriel Simon Thattil.
During the event, Professor E. Krishnan (Retired Professor, University College, Thiruvananthapuram) presented a fascinating narrative on how the value of π (Pi) was defined and refined across different generations and geographical boundaries. Prof. Achuthsankar S. Nair demonstrated how mathematics breathes life into music and other daily experiences and emphasized that mathematics is not merely a set of calculations but a creative force integrated into every aspect of life, from rhythmic patterns in music to symmetry in nature. The programme successfully inspired students and faculty alike to view the discipline through a more artistic and creative lens

KSCSTE–IRIA Consultative Meeting on Research Collaboration on 15.12.2025 at Shastra Bhavan
KSCSTE today hosted the KSCSTE–IRIA Consultative Meeting on Research Collaboration at Shastra Bhavan, Pattom, Thiruvananthapuram. The meeting brought together experts from the leading R&D institutions under KSCSTE to explore collaborative avenues with the upcoming International Research Institute of Ayurveda (IRIA), envisioned as a global centre for evidence-based Ayurveda.
This consultative meeting marks a significant step toward fostering a science-driven reaffirmation of Ayurvedic principles and building a strong translational research ecosystem for Kerala. We look forward to deeper engagements and a stronger collaboration in the days ahead.

The Kerala State Council for Science, Technology and Environment (KSCSTE) aims to promote scientific research, innovation, science popularisation and improve the quality of science education in the state. To accomplish these, the Council is implementing various programmes. The Council has been continuously improving its programmes through regular internal reviews. Now KSCSTE has decided to conduct an independent assessment of various programmes of the Council Headquarters. The study was entrusted to the Centre for Socio-economic and Environmental Studies (CSES), Kochi. The study is primarily based on the feedback of the stakeholders. In this connection, we request the feedback, opinions and suggestions from different sections of the Kerala population. A condolence meeting was held at KSCSTE, Sasthra Bhavan, to mourn the sad demise of Prof. V. K. Damodaran, esteemed Member of the State Council and Executive Committee, KSCSTE. The gathering brought together officials, colleagues, and well-wishers who came to pay tribute to Prof. Damodaran’s invaluable contributions to the scientific community.
The council expressed its deepest condolences to the bereaved family and acknowledged the void left by his passing.
